About generation
Classic backtracking — fill a complete random valid grid first, then carve holes (each hole verified to keep a unique solution). Hole count by difficulty: Easy 35, Medium 45, Hard 55.
Inspiration
Sudoku dates to Euler's Latin squares (18th century); modern form by Howard Garns (1979); named by Nikoli (1986). Public-domain. The visuals, generation algorithm, and UI here are BverGame original.
